It's observation deck has recently been updated with local information on old and new Buffalo. While there, you can view photos of old downtown from years past, and learn area history. If you're unfamilar with the area or new in town, photos of current Buffalo are also provided with names of buildings and public spaces. A great first stop to bring any new comers in town.

One thing of note; On a clear day, you can literaly look straight over Niagara Street and see the mist and skyline of Niagara Falls in the distance. This space is open to the public for viewing Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 5pm (except Holiday). And it's FREE. Simply take an elevator to the 25Th. floor and walk three short flights to enjoy this amazing view.

Crime and Corruption

This afternooon, I left my house early in the morning on my day off to run some errands and then head off to my favorite cafe' downtown for a breakfast sandwich on a croissant with coffee. Then after checking my emails and event RSVP's, proceeded to check the local news (Buffalo News). Come to my surprise and what do I see? A photo of a guy in cuffs being escorded by police and a headline titled, "POLICE COMMISSION MEMBER ARRESTED IN COCAINE BUST'. Mind you, in a city where it's the norm to hear about corruption on someone at City Hall, now it's the men in charge of those who are suppost to be getting the very scum bags off our streets who is doing the crime? Where do we draw the line? Who is watching the wather? No wonder many people in this town are so untrustworthy of anyone in charge and of each other.
Link to story:
http://www.buffalonews.com/city/communities/buffalo/artical356779.ece

Reasons to Stay in Downtown Buffalo, NY

Whether it's your first or tenth time staying in downtown Buffalo. The Market Arcade at 617 Main Street, located in the heart of our Theater District has over 600 square feet of space on the first floor, with countless 2nd and 3rd floor spaces available.

Completed in 1892 as a passage way from Main to the Washington Market District (between Ellicott & Washington) the Market Arcade was a true mini mall with small retailers ranging from flower shops, jewelery stores, hair salons, clothing, and more. All the things we need today and the spaces that can provide these amenities are still here.

Completely renovated in the early 1990's to it's original glory, the building is now anchored by the Buffalo Niagara Convention & Visitor's Bureau and Visitor Center, CEPA Gallery, Preservation Buffalo Niagara and many others. There is still plenty of room for small start-up retailers to come in and test the downtown market. As mentioned in a previous BR Post, the way to bring retail back downtown is to start off small. This building has the small spaces and is accessible from both Main and Washington Streets.

The former Ya Ya Brew-house next door (part of the Market Arcade Complex) is in final negotiations for lease to a restaurant (stay tuned on that). The main lobby was very busy when Fera's Cafe (moved to the Electric Tower) occupied the now vacant space. A cafe or small snack bar would do wonders to bring people back to the main lobby. Seating and tables are available in the lobby (left), or a new owner could make room for customer seating inside.
Rents vary; higher on the first floor, and less on the second and third floors. There is even the possibility of FREE rent while renovations take place for your space/s. The building comes with security and is open daily, so new tenants can be open on weekends or late at night.
If the Market Arcade can get just five or six retailers in here, think of the difference it would make to the building and the Theater District as a whole.

Get connected:
Hunt Commercial Real Estate
Christopher J. Chayban Chayban of Chayban's Custom Tailoring has been tailoring since the age of 11 in Tripoli, Lebanon. Mr. Chayban moved to the U.S. in 1973 to Buffalo with only $50 in his pocket. Within two weeks, he got his first job on Elmwood Avenue as a tailor.

In 1978, he and his wife opened their first Chayban's Custom Tailor Shop on Elmwood. Since then, great sales has spread through word of mouth, and the stores have also spread all over Western New York, with locations at the Galleria Mall, McKinley Mall, Transit Road in Lancaster & Williamsville, Elmwood, and now the Ellicott Square Building in the heart of Downtown Buffalo.

What makes the Ellicott Square location so unique? You can get a brand new suit by names such as Burberry, Prada, Louis Vuitton and more. There are vintage suits, vests and leather jackets in mint condition, designer hats, raincoats, dress shoes, all for half the price of what you would pay anywhere else. Also, if you want a one-of-a-kind suit made from scratch, just choose from any of the many fabrics in the store, get sized up and you have your own suit - made just for you.

From leather repair, alterations, dry cleaning, weaving, and custom made clothing, doesn't matter where you purchased it, just bring it to Chayban's and have it fixed. Find a one-of-a-kind outfit in the Chayban store and it just doesn't fit exactly right? You can have it fitted on the spot.

The downtown Chayban's is owned by both Mr. Chayban and his son, Joe. Both guys have a great eye for fashion and are very helpful in finding just the right look to fit your personality. I believe this is the only store currently located downtown where you can find a suit and big named designers under one roof. It's definitely worth the trip. And ladies, you can come in too if you need alterations, leather repair, weaving, dry cleaning, and you can get a gift certificate for that special man in your life.

Because Chayban's location of the Ellicott Square building faces Main Street, you can park for free right in front of the store. This is the ONLY block along the Pedestrian Mall that allows auto traffic, so take advantage of it. Also, if you spend a thousand dollars or more, you will automatically receive a free gift certificate for $100.

Chayban's Men's Suits & Custom Tailoring

Ellicott Square Building - Suite 123A
295 Main Street
Buffalo, NY 14203
716.854.2055
Mon Fri 10AM-5PM

http://www.chaybans.com/

(Models Top pic left-right: John, Jeremy & Zachary of Buffalo, NY)

Holiday Discounts at Weisberg's Jewelers

Holiday Discounts at Weisberg's Jewelers

By Giovanni Centurione

(as seen on www.BuffaloRising.com 12/14/09)

Looking for a gift that will last a lifetime?
Weisberg's Jewelers, one of downtown Buffalo's oldest jewelry stores is offering big discounts right now through the holiday season. And after you make your choice, the staff can do personal engravings and customize your items if needed.

A neat little background on Weisberg's is that it has been in Downtown Buffalo since 1914. They have always had a presence on Main Street, and were one of the original retailers in the Main Place Mall until 2001, when they moved to the current Court Street location. Owner, Ed Wicks has been with the business since 1963, and he can tell you anything you'd like to know about --from diamonds, to gold, to Downtown.

Weisberg Jewelers
11 Court Street
Buffalo, NY 14202
716.854.0086
Open Mon-Sat 9am-5pm

The Gift Loft at the Main Place Mall

The Gift Loft at the Main Place Mall

By

Giovanni Centurione

If you're a last minute holiday shopper like, me, then you must check out The Gift Loft, located in the Main Place Mall. The loft has a wide variety of items, from Buffalo related gifts to unique home and office pieces.
Owner, Edwin Jablonski (that's his design, above) opened this new retail location in late August after eyeing Downtown for some time. The store is located on the ground floor fronting Main Street with an entrance on Main Street, as well as from inside the Mall. There is a great window display along Main Street that changes often, and the store is huge!
The Gift Loft is THE place to find original T-shirts and hats, designed and printed by Edwin and his family, for only $10 each. The Gift Loft also has a wide selection of amusing coffee mugs, beer mugs, jewelry, scarves, ties, winter hats, picture frames, wine glasses - and new items come in every other week.
It's a great place to shop for a family member, friend, co-worker, or yourself this holiday and beyond.

The Gift Loft - Main Place Mall - 400 Main Street - Buffalo, NY 14202
716.854.GIFT (4438)
Open Mon - Sat. 9AM-5:30PM
(Free Parking under Main Place Mall on Saturdays)

Lu Modern Classics: Downtown Shopping

Lu Modern Classics: Downtown Shopping in Buffalo!

(as featured on www.BuffaloRising.com)

In case you didn't know, Lu Modern Classics moved from the Elmwood Village to the Ellicott Square lobby as of November 19th. They have the same great, quality made clothing from designers like Red Engine, Makers Jeans, Manni O., Nantucket Brand, Conrad C., and more. They also have a large collection of jeans, shirts, coats, scarves, shoes, jewelry, hand bags, socks and other unique items, along with Buffalo-themed literature.
This store's jewelry selection is extra special and made by local artists, such as DNA designs by Donna Angelo and pieces by Jeannie Foster. And there are always new items coming in, so be sure to check back often.

LU Modern Classics was voted "Best of Western New York Clothing Boutique" by Buffalo Spree Magazine recently. When stepping into their store, you'll see why. Friendly service, a personal shopper upon request, and if you are not able to make it during normal business hours, you can call ahead and someone will be available for you shop before or after regular store hours.
This unique retailer also has an artist gallery with current prints, T-shirts, mugs and computer mouse pads by local artist, Cheryl Gorski, and T-shirts by local artist 'Gaunch'. The current displays by Cheryl Gorski will only last through the holidays and with each purchase of her items, the money goes towards the children of Gateway-Longview, orphaned and abandoned children of WNY. So be sure to check these great items out while they last.
Also, for the month of December only, Lu's Ellicott Square location will be open on Saturdays from 11AM to 3PM, and if you know someone who would just love this store, but you're not sure what to get them, gift cards are available at any price (of course, gift cards can be purchased beyond the holiday season and used at anytime).

In closing, if you're looking for that mix of urban hipster-to-office attire, then this is the place to go. Once home to at least one department store per block surrounded by smaller retailers, restaurants, jewelery stores, movie theaters, and more. Once a destination, not only for city residence's but for those in the burbs and near by cities such as Toronto, Rochester, and beyond. A place where people once dressed up to go to these multi-floored department stores such as L.L. Bergers, Hens & Kelly, AM&A's, to either shop, browse or to be seen.

Today, ALL of these great department stores are gone. The former buildings have either been converted into offices, living spaces or left abandoned. The smaller storefronts are clearly vacant and the sidewalks left abandoned most hours of any given day. On weekends, one would feel they are on a movie set for a horror film where everybody had escaped or vanished with out a trace.

Many locals blame the death of retail on this block on the construction of the Pedestrian Mall with a metro rail that banned auto traffic since work began around 1980. This was an idea to lure people from the burbs and beyond to return to downtown since the construction of suburban malls and plaza's were going up like crazy since the late 1960's. But, if the Mayor (Jimmy Griffin) at the time was smart, he would have done his research on Pedestrian Malls and would have never of torn up Main Street in Buffalo as this concept was found not to of worked in other American Cities. During the time Buffalo was putting in the Metro Rail, other cities were tearing theirs apart or re-constructing it to make room for auto traffic since it was killing businesses.

In the last few years, local developers have been good at transforming some of these former retail stores, warehouses and offices into residential spaces in hopes of turning Downtown Buffalo into a 24/7 hot spot. But, even with a few thousand new people calling this neighborhood home, Retail lacks and Main Street still looking like a ghost town. What gives?

Look at Main Street today and it is void of retail and more importantly, people. The good news is (fingers crossed) the city and NFTA will begin re-constructing the street starting with the Theater District block this Fall by making room for single lane traffic and parking on both sides. Let's hope Buffalo Place and city leaders use this time to promote this new avenue to local and national retailers in hopes of landing them.

Down on the Inner Harbor/Erie Canal Harbor District, the city is working with local developer, Benderson Development to totally re-do the waterfront around the historic Erie Canal, lower Main Street and Cobblestone District near the HSBC Arena. This drastic plan is allegedly going to bring in local and national retail, eateries, museums, living spaces, offices, and so on to a now deserted part of town. If this is a boom, one can only imagine the spin off it may have for the rest of downtown Buffalo....if it happens.

(Main Street, July 1962, auto traffic, buses, Retail and PEOPLE!!!!!)

Relationships and Marriage; Is THIS Community Ready?

Now that the Pride Parades have ended and the politics are back to campaigning, are we in the LGBT Community still interested in Marriage Equality? Do we even know what a REAL Relationship is?

I find it irritating and sad every time I hear from those in this community that say they want a boyfriend or they want a girlfriend. BUT, ask them what is important to them and the answer is all the same; depends on how the sex is, dick size, he or she got money, etc. And this is all based on their first date... Well call me old fashion, but maby this is WHY YOU ARE SINGLE???? If you don't take the time to get to know someone for who they are first, how will you know if you actually have anything to talk about after sex? If your going to jump in the sack as soon as you meet, is it EVER not awkward waking up the next day and not knowing what to talk about? And are you NOT surprised when they don't call back? Maby this is the reason WHY YOU ARE SINGLE???? Did you ever wait a few weeks to hang out with this potential partner to see if you can trust him or her? To see if you actually LIKE being around each other? Have fun together????

It's not just the 18 year old's that have this problem, I have witnessed 30 and 40 somethings with the same issues. Many in this community don't know how to get out of that stereotyped sex object craze and start looking at people for who they are. Yeah, looks are a plus, but talk to that good looking guy or girl first. See what they are interested in. Do you click intellectually? or is it going to solely be based on random sex? If so, then don't complain of being single or not having the right to get married.

As far as fighting for Gay Marriage (which I haven't heard anything since Pride ended) ,Why not start learning HOW to have a relationship first. Do most of you know what true love is? Or is it simply a lust for you? If Marriage was offered today for this community, would you take advantage of it simply for the publicity and free gifts? or would it actually be because you LOVE your partner?

I really find it nerve racking, tasteless and find myself sometimes ashamed to be a part of a community that wants a right, but makes it obvious they wouldn't know how to use it correctly if it were available. My point being, we need to learn how to approach, start and hold long lasting, relationships before we fight for that right such as Marriage for the LGBT Community.

My First of many Artist Write Ups: Nathaniel

Here is my first of many Artist Write Ups. And if you ever get the chance to hear his music or meet him in person, you see why... Nathaniel started singing in local churches and talent competitions with the encouragement of his mother. At one time, Nathaniel was singing with two of this brothers and called their group, "No Identity" The group were signing songs by the likes of Boyz II Men and The Drifters, and even performing at the world famous Apollo Theater.
The three brothers eventually branched out and Nathaniel went solo with a goal of putting his hometown of Brooklyn, NY back on the map. Staying true in the R&B genre, his style is both club banger as well as influential. Nate has given his talent away at movements such as the Annual Week of People hosted by HUB Ent. Newarks campaign to Stop the Violence; Another Peace Night/No Time for Crime in Boston, Ma sponsored by Chez Vous' community activist, Greer Toney and hosted by 106.1 Touch FM; "Cover Up" an event by Silent Voices to increase HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention in which Nathaniel performed the memorable Get Tested; Covenant House's first Annual "Youth Explosion" raising awareness of the services offered by Covenant House to troubled youth and families.
So far, 2009 has been a busy year for Nathaniel with lots more planned for the near future. From winning the 'Battle of the Boroughs' on June 28Th at the Times Square Arts Center to opening the Brooklyn Community Pride Concert for Papoose on July 25Th in Tompkins Park. Performing at Best Buy in Chelsea to Amachi Lounge in Brooklyn and many more. It's almost daily he and his dancers are out performing and/or rehearsing.
On August 6th, Nathaniel introduced the world to his first ever music video, "Let Me In". Filmed in Boston, Ma at the Chez Vous Ice Rink. People from Boston, Philly, Baltimore and beyond came to his premier at Bamboo 52 in Midtown Manhattan to support and meet this rising star in person. With the increased exposure, his fan base is definitely growing.
What's next for Nathaniel? Well, he and his team, "Fly Nate Team" are booking shows here in NYC and beyond. In the meantime, the next show is August 17Th. for The 1st Annual Marcus Mosiah Garvey Festival in Harlem; A performance at the Times Square Arts Center on August 28Th for the Annual Jambalaya event; September 12Th. at Indiana State College's' Annual Dream Chasa Event.A second music video is in the works, so stay tuned and so many more exciting shows and other projects soon to come. From falling for someone who doesn't feel the same way for me as I do for him to just plain rude guys hitting me up in public expecting things from me they will never get.

Lately I've been asking myself, "Why do I always have the worst luck with men? Why is it so hard to just have a normal date these days? Really, who did I hurt so bad in this lifetime or kill in a previous life to deserve this kind of punishment?"

First of all, let me say it takes me some time to really be fully open with anyone as I have trust issues (this is due from being too trusting at a younger age and learning my lessons). So, just when I put my full trust into someone, he turns around and destroys it by either cheating, or leaving. The best example of one leaving me with out notice happened in 2005. This guy and I were together for six months and we even talked about getting married someday. We practically lived together since he never left my apartment for most of the time we were together. Anyway, one morning out of the blue, he calls me at around 5am (I was too tired to answer) to say, "I enjoyed our time together, it's been alot of fun, but I don't want to pursue this relationship anymore, take care".) After that incident I refused to date anyone or even acknowledge anyone who tried to talk to me for almost two years.

Then their are the ones that just want one thing and get pretty aggravated when I don't want to give then none, like something is wrong with me. No, I just don't do strangers. I'll admit, I did it for awhile after just coming out at age 16, but I think it had more to do with my age and getting all the years I wasn't able to be with another guy out of my system. Believe me when I say, I know guys who are in their thirties and forties and even older who still believe they can get in bed with anyone and think nothing of it, which I find sad and funny at the same time. Try holding a normal conversation with someone like that and they want to stop what they are doing to focus their attention on someone walking by like they never seen a human being before. This is sort of how I lost friends over the years, because they will ask me to repeat what I was saying before they got distracted and I would always refuse. I'm just so glad I'm not living with that mentality and never did.

Back to the topic now. Online dating? Been there, done that. Each one of those experiences ended up in disaster. I've tried the bar/club scene which obviously have not been successfully either. So what can I try?.... I don't holla at people in the streets or flirt in random places to complete strangers, that is alittle difficult for me to do. So what should I do? I'm tired of hearing from my close friends "He's out there, just gotta wait" or "You look in the wrong places", etc...just gets really tired and irritating.

As for falling for someone who doesn't like me back. This has happened twice this year so far. One almost ruined a new friendship. Hanging out with this guy almost every day, sharing life experiences with each other, and I ended up falling for him. It was eating me up so bad inside, I had to tell him how I felt. When I did, he got mad and didn't speak to me for almost two weeks. Thankfully we cleared things up and stayed friends. My other crush never knew how I felt, and I'm so glad I never told him. I eventually learned who he really is and we were not compatible at all.

One thing I can't really do anymore is a guys nite out. All my friends are in a relationship. The only single friend I have at this time is a female and she don't like going to the same places that I do. I feel like the old maid or third wheel sometimes and to be honest, I always thought I'd be in a relationship before most of my friends did.

Am I alone in this rant and rave? Please leave your comments and suggestions below or email them if you will. Let's keep this discussing going for as long as we can. Thank you.

Giovanni Centurione
g_centurione@yahoo.com

A Rally To Stop the Gay Bashing

Dear LGBT Community of NYC,

In the last two weeks, two Transgendered women in our community have been attacked both physically and verbally in Queens, NY. It's not just coming from regular people on the streets, but these attacks are also coming from the very people who are supposed to Serve and Protect us All. Yes, that right, one attack came straight from the NYPD and the other involved a physical and verbal attack by two men throwing bottles and rocks. It's not just a NYC issue, it's a world wide issue and we need to let the world know "We are here to stay so stop harassing us!"

Today in Jackson Heights, several activists, political leaders and others came out to support the two women who were attack in that borough in the last two weeks and to demand that Albany pass legislation to stop the violence. With email blast and bulletins sent out to promote this rally, you would think more people in this community would show up and give support for these two women. These heartless attacks could happen to anyone of us and any given time at any place.

As I left my house today and heading to this rally, I was thinking, this Rally is going to be HUGE. I was expecting to see many familiar faces and many more unfamiliar. When I arrived, I only seen a small group. Don't get me wrong, this was better than no one showing up, BUT, one would expect more support from this community.

With so many people in the NYC LGBT Community speaking out about equality and being there for each other...WHERE WERE YOU TODAY????? This would have been the perfect rally to practice what you preach, voice your opinion on this issue and give SUPPORT to those treated badly for simply being who they are.... Is it because CNN or FOX wasn't there? No BOOZE? or no party in the street afterwords? Too serious of an issue for you?... As I've heard so often in this community, it's easier to pack a bar full of booze and half naked men than it is to get people to come out and support each other in times of need. I guess today's rally turn out really proves that point.

Just because these attacks didn't happen to you or someone you know, does not mean it can never happen. The point of today's rally is to prevent it from ever happening again. To give the residents of this City and the Nation that we are tired of being mistreated, attacked and to let Albany know we want the violence stopped.

As someone who knows first hand what it's like to be harassed by complete strangers for simply being myself, I take any attack on any individual very close to the heart. I am tired of hearing from others in this community and those who are not, "Oh, he or she probably deserved it", or "they shouldn't be so open", or "what were they doing over there in the first place?"...I'm sorry, but isn't this AMERICA in the year 2009? So why do we, in the LGBT Community still have to live in fear of where we go? how we act? how we look? and so on? Does it really take a senseless attack on one of us, a close friend or family member to wake up and see that this is a serious issue?

Some of you may feel that is not an issue. You may be able to hide your gayness, or pretend you don't care what people think of you, but at any given time, you may find yourself attacked with a bottle or a brick, arrested or searched by police for no reason, called derogatory names by complete strangers in the street or looked at funny for no reason..... Sound familiar? Or have you never experienced at least one of these awful treatments or just in denial?

My question being, "What will it take for you to wake up and realize we have a serious problem in this community? What will it take for you to give support to the victims of hate crimes towards those in your community? When will you stop caring more about yourself and start caring for others in this community? When will we see your faces outside of the nightlife scene? Wouldn't you want your community to support you if you ever became a victim?"

My heart and prayers goes out to Leslie Mora and Carnella Etienne, the victims and survivors in which this rally was for, and for others who have ever been a victim of a hate crime.

Sincerely,

Giovanni Centurione

www.facebook.com/Giovanni.Centurione

A letter to the LGBT Community of NYC

Dear LGBT Community,

I have supported you since my coming out twelve years ago. I have come to as many events such as Gay Pride's, house parties, club parties, especially to the most recent forums which were intended to bring a sense of unity in the LGBT, especially in the Press and Media Community.

During the weeks leading up to Gay Pride-NYC 2009, alot of talk of 'UNITY' and bringing everyone in the "Community" together to support each other, work together, and promote each others events was the big dream that caught my interest...What happened?

From my view looking in. I witnessed some great speech's, not enough interactions, a conference call to be on a board and no follow up. BUT during my last attendance. I see the very people who were supporting "Unity, Working Together, invited me on the board", all getting their photos and video taken, interviews......I'm sorry, but If I'm on the board, why was I not included in any photo shoot or Interviewed that day? Oh, at one point, just because I over heard interviews were going to take place, I was I told that my guest and I would be interviewed. But the way I was told was of "oh yeah, we can include you two as well". Let me remind you, If you had taken a moment to come over and introduce yourself to my guest, you would of found out that it would of benefited you as he has a great connection with the music industry, Public Relations and celebrity contacts and so on. Your loss, not mine.

After Pride Week had ended, no more follow ups, no emails, no calls, just done. So was it all just a scam to lure us all to these events and spend money? or was their actually an intention that never followed through?

My point being. If you want "UNITY" and help, and respect from others, you have to create it and earn it, if you keep crying wolf to lure people to your events and spend money, your eventually going to be caught.

Do as you say for once. Come out to other people's events, support them as they have for you and your functions. If we keep this up, we are not going to have a community at all. Just a bunch of clicks with no leaders. Yet it seems we really have no leadership right now to begin with.

As for the next event at the end of this month.... Funny your video promo shows all the same topics I already spoke about in one of my blogs and video from the month of MAY. I did receive alot of feedback via email and support from people on the streets afterwords. I see I wasn't included in your event (not surprised) but invited to attend for a $10 admission. Will I be there?... Nope, I'd rather spend it where I'm supported.

Sincerely,

Giovanni Centurione

The Socialite Report

This is just a short blog notice reminding you all to check out my new work at another Blog Site for Fashion, Nightlife, and NY History @

TheSocialiteReport.blogspot.com

NO Tops, Bottoms, White, Black, Fem, etc.

NO Tops, Bottoms, White, Black, Fem

By Giovanni Centurione

Okay, this really bugs me. Picture this, you're single, gay and looking for love online. Every where you look, you run across the same profiles all saying the same thing, "Looking for a relationship or just friends, BUT....No bottoms, no fems, no whites, etc.", or vise versa.

My biggest complaint about this is, people should not be putting this kind of info in their profiles. It can be taken the wrong way. For example, putting "no whites", do you simply not like white people in general or just not attracted to white guys? "No fems" is a little fem okay? do you want a DL guy? complete straight acting?...what? "No bottoms" have you EVER been a Top? have you ever tried being versatile? what if you found a bottom who was compatible in everything else? Would you try it for him?

These types of nit picks are just that. Picky people looking for the "Perfect" person and in the end never know how to be spontaneous, look at people for who they are instead of how they look or perform in bed. Usually stay single or do the one-night stands or have boring dates. Because if your ad says "Looking for a friendship or looking for a Relationship" then all those "musts" in your ad is non essential. Do you want a friend just because he's a Top? Or Black or White? That just sounds ignorant to me.

Who are we to know who we might fall for? It's been shown in the media, in our parents, in our friends who are coupled up, that OPPOSITES Attract. To leave those "Must Have this" crap out of your profile, you are leaving the options open to anyone who is interested in the same as you are to leave a message, and who knows, you may just end up liking that person 'just because'. And they won't be a Bottom, white, or may be a little femmy, but who cares, you've already shown interest. Funny how things can work out this way. So try it!!!!!

Enjoy this video I did with a friend of mine, Eric J. Parker (below). Who by the way is a perfect example for this subject....Eric just recently celebrated a one year anniversary with his long term partner, DJ Baker. Who, before he met DJ, Eric was looking for a "certain" type of guy as well. Then out of nowhere, DJ showed up and showed interest. It was obvious DJ liked Eric, but Eric wasn't feeling him at first and even asked my opinion and questioned it himself. "Should I try it?", "What should I do?". I said "Of course, why not? He's in the same business as you, he seems like a nice guy, he's funny, and he is nothing like the guys you usally go out with". After awhile DJ finally grabbed Eric's attention and let him know how he felt. It wasn't sexual at all, it was the fact that he admired his personality, his drive in life, his interest and the list goes on. After Eric realized this, he finally saw the light and eventually fell in love with the complete opposite from what he "was" looking for in the past.... My point? It can happen to you too!

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v2.nonxt7.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Db47a4c48ff51e987%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1330214133%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D273E7245A40A8F9634CE083ADA75C819F9C89521.5C12CD9CEAFD0C9F2D98D184E0F5990E7754BBE2%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Db47a4c48ff51e987%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DsfewtGUVaYrPiV7CfkSxPV5agCM&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

In this video:

Giovanni Centurione & Eric J. The first time, I was asked to a runway challenge with guest, Isis King from America's Next Top Model, but the women who was working with me on the set never came to get me or give me my Q to get up and ask to do this. Sometimes these things happen, the show took a different turn and I wasn't needed. Mind you this was back in early-mid November of 2008.

Fast forward to early March of this year and I get a call from the show again, this time from a guy instead of a girl asking me if I would be interested in taking part of the show, based along the lines of the ABC Hit Show, "What Would You Do?". So of course I was like "Yes, Definitely". So he gave me some scenario's to choose from and of course the one's that I wanted to answer were already taken, not sure why he would give a choice for those but anyway. So I was left with the option of saying 'No' to not saying something if a guy slips something into someones drink while they weren't looking or saying 'No' to not saying anything to a waiter dropping food on the floor and then serving it. ...So, if you've seen the show, I think you know which one I picked. If not, here is the link to part one of the show in which I'm up around 3:20 minutes in and then again at approx. 9:40 minutes. Tyra comes back to me for more, lol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9cOfQAzM98

I wonder if I'll be known as the 'Hot Dog Guy' or banned from ever working in a restaurant now because of this? lol

The over all experience was wonderful both times. My first time, I came in as a guest, waited with a friend of mine, Willie to get to the actual audience part with our special VIP Passes. My second time was a little different. I came to the check in area with the guests as told, only to be re-directed to the studio's main lobby after giving my name to the guest list checker. I go to the lobby section (very exclusive, very friendly). I go in, check in and they made me sit on this very large curved sofa in the waiting area. Then slowly, other people started coming in, checking their names, going through the mini metal detector, giving up cell phones and cameras, just like I did and then sat with me on the sofa.

I met some interested people, and learned how differently we all got called in to do this. One girl was called in after emailing the show for a topic suggestion, which was totally opposite of what she had in mind. Another girl knew a producer for the show, and others were called in from other acting sites, such as myself. (That site is a secret, shhh).

Once, we are prepped on what we are to say and when, we go up to the audience and are told not to tell ANYONE in the audience what the show is going to be about or what we are up to, just act like a regular guest. But it must of made some people curious when we all came in late and had the make-up guy powder each one of our faces , myself included, and having the casting people check in on us during every break saying "you ready?" , "you nervous?", "you excited?". lol.

But before the show even starts, their hype man, I believe his name was Dennis, is very hyper and makes us all dance, shout, and sing to get us all motivated and excited before Tyra comes out and starts the show.

I highly recommend anyone who is a fan to go to her website and request tickets and see her "LIVE" just for the experience.

http://tyrashow.warnerbros.com/

The Latest News

GIO'S WORLD
So, only two shows, what's up? In this short scene, you have my long time friend and ex, James Shingelton and Mannie (the camera guy with a smart mouth) at Pano's Restaurant in Buffalo's Elmwood Village (sort of like the Chelsea District of Buffalo, NY). It's been 10 years since I've been in High School and most of those days are a blur as I tried to avoid it while there. So if we went to school together and you find me on myspace, facebook or see me in the street and I have no idea who you are, don't take it personal. My point really is, recently I was on myspace and going into my high school search of people around my age and why do I only recognize maby three or four people only? And the ones I don't remember, remember me? and one who looks familiar actually looks 10 times better now than did ten years ago.
How was I in High School, well, I'll be honest and say I was sort of quiet, but always in detention for skipping classes, mouthing off to teachers if I felt they were in the wrong and once I was suspended after the cops came to the school with their sniffing dogs and found my bong in my locker. Which by the way, I found in my own basement and belonged to my mother from back in her day. Mostly hung out with the stoners and the other bad asses which would explain why I always got into trouble.
With the ten year anniversary nearing, no, I do not plan on attending, didn't like most of you mo fo's then, so why would I want to be in a room with you all again?

Happy Freakin New Year!!!!!

So Happy Freakin New Years Everyone!!!!! ...Let's see, I left Buffalo a day before just so I can go out and party in the city and have my champagne...but.....ended up staying at my apartment with the roomies, Wayne and Terence instead. High Winds, the cold kept me inside and then came the bottles of Vodka, Long Island Ice Tea in a bottle, and several cans of soda's rang in till 3am and I was still in party mode to go out but of course it was too late.
Tonight, I'm making it all up by going to my Thursday nite hang out for $2 Margarita's in Chelsea. For those of you who know the place already and see me out...you better say "Hi" to me there, don't email me the next day or two with "Hey, I just seen you at___" ....cause whats the point? I don't like that, say something to me in person, don't waist time emailing me "hello", I'm not going to bite your head off or catch an attitude in public, it's not my nature. But I will get annoyed with emails of "oh yeah, I was there, I saw you, but__" ...
Anywho, enough with the rants, I need a cup of coffee, black and no sugar.

I got the part as the 'Fox" that I auditioned for....

So, I just got the call last night from Director, Nick regarding the part I auditioned for as the "Fox" in Pinoccio. I was under the impression that was going to be seen at one theatre only in midtown. But after reviewing the show dates (and locations) this is going to be a traveling show, mostly to local schools and nursery's. No complaints, it's just not what I expected.
But for now, I have work out a schedule with the other person playing the Fox, Megan when I'm not available, this way, we can both attend to our other jobs on the side and still do this play.
Will have the details and locations soon so if you want to attend, you can.

Oh, yeah, I'm back in NYC and my trip was fast, mostly because I was asleep through most of it. Took the 4:30am and got in town just before 1pm and now I am ready to Celebrate News Years tonight with some of my bestest friends.
Video and pics of that most likely tomorrow. lol.

Ciao,

-Gio

While Visiting my Hometown

Seems how it's the holidays and all, I decided to visit the fam in Buffalo, NY instead of having them visit me in NYC as they did last year (Just to be fair). So, let me start off with how this whole vacation started off..
First, I was originally supposed to leave the city on Friday, but then a snow storm hit most of the Northeast, especially Buffalo. So I waited till Saturday, all clear. But when I get back to town, the following day, another snow storm hits and I'm stuck in my parents house for the first two full days with no way out. Not that I dislike my family, but I would of liked the option to escape for awhile for at least a coffee or something.
Well, then their is the X-Mas Eve and X-Mas Day celebrations, that wasn't so bad, I could used some more booze instead of the weak ones my cousins husband kept making at his home bar.
But, my real awkwardness was just last night when bar hopping with my old friend, James. Things were fine and no runs ins until we went to the fourth venue, known as the Underground in Downtown Buffalo. We walked right in, with no problem, no one really looked familiar to me, then I decided to go to the dance floor and shake my ass. This is when I started to see people from the past walk in. The first was my ex, ex roommate, ex boyfriend from 10 years ago, Darren, I try to avoid him after he almost had us thrown out of our apartment two years for not paying the landlord not only his money, but MY MONEY that I gave to him for her. Plus his drug problem and random strange men that he always invited into our place was also an issue too. So I played it off, like "oh yeah, how are ya" and kept doing my thing.
When it came time to use the restroom, I ran into one of Darren's old ex's, Rich, who I also never got along with because he always had an attitude problem and caused unnecessary scenes in public places. So he was drunk off his ass last night and Darren walked in right behind me to talk to Rich, when I come back to the sink, Rich's now ex, Brandon (who I also didn't want to ever see again) walks in looks at us and tries to leave, but, I was like "hey, remember me?" and he was in one of his moods and was like "yeah, hi Giovanni", made a look and walked out.
BUT, this wasn't the end, then I walked back out to the main floor where James was hanging out at a table and as soon as I got there, an ex of mine and a guy I made out with many years ago were walking by. The make out guy, kept walking with no notice, but the ex did see me and just shook my hand and kept walking. Kind of funny, since he JUST added me as a friend on myspace a week ago.
This is when I turned over to James and was like "Ready when you are". And bounced.

I was originally planning on recording some of this, but it was too loud and bad lighting inside, but I did record alittle in the car on the way to the Underground with James and his friend Philip.

Enjoy!
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v13.nonxt2.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Dd6b0293ddcd79a75%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1330214133%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D15760B831354D2E2149AAAFDB6928555E9FF4C09.2111226D320C3FC4E442B9A2B771125D8DC13D85%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Dd6b0293ddcd79a75%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3Dk7Ir08N8IN9oiH8bAYOcGMPfRwQ&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Gio's World, December 26th. 2008

Hello All,

I am currently working on ideas, places and guest to feature on my new Reality Show , "GIO'S WORLD" coming to YouTube.com this January of 2009. Some of what we have so far are of my Holiday vacation in Buffalo, NY . I know , who vacations in Buffalo, especially in the winter?, but it's where I was born and my parents and old friends are still there. So, you'll see me harrasing my old friends and making them say nice things about me on camera as well as a bet that I most likely wont follow through and most likely this guy wont follow through on his bet either.
Interviews will be of celebrities I know and those new to my circle at various locations, the interviews will be fun, personal, and outrageous, or at least we'll try.
With our cheap budget, this will only be viewed on YouTube.com and the camera may be shaky, so deal with it!

COMING IN JANUARY 2009, STAY TUNED FOR EXACT DATES!

Also view my pages and add me as your friend.

www.myspace.com/giovanni_d

www.facebook.com (Giovanni Centurione)
